10 Miley Cyrus Quotes to Celebrate the Birthday of a Teen Pop Star

November 23rd is the birthday of Destiny Hope Cyrus, so now
is the time for some Hannah Montana/Miley Cyrus quotes.
What does one have to do with the other? They're all one in
the same!

Miley Cyrus, who was born Destiny Hope Cyrus, plays Hannah
Montana on a popular Disney kids' show. Let's help this pop
princess celebrate her November birthday with these 10
Miley Cyrus/Hannah Montana quotes.

1. "I think Hannah gets nervous just like any other person
would. She's like a dork, personally. She's just really,
really fun."

2. "I come from this really small town near Nashville,
Tennessee, where everything was la-di-da and normal."

3. "As soon as I read the script (for Hannah Montana), I
knew it kinda related to me. I wanted to disguise myself as
not some celebrity's daughter, just be me and find people
that like me for me."

4. "If you believe in yourself anything is possible."

5. "It's been an insane year. I watched my dad doing this
my whole life, and then it was my turn to step up to the
plate and follow in his footsteps. It's been my dream to
sing, but I also thought it would be cool to act and get to
be someone else. Having this amazing role of Hannah
Montana, where I get to sing and act, has been really fun."

6. "You know what I say, if a relationship can't work out,
make a record."

7. "My dad and I talk all the time about the important
stuff in my life. He and my mom know how much I appreciate
them and our relationship is good because we spend time
together. I am happy to be a part of this day to help other
kids feel the same way."

8. "I'm not letting any stupid decisions get in my way. I
want to be a role model, letting girls know that they can
follow their dreams."

9. "Some of the fanmail is interesting! Some of it's the
lyrics to the songs and stuff, and they'll like, send me
their favorite lines, which is cool to...know what people
are liking. Most of them are really cool to read."

10.  "With yourself, I think you have to decide the kind of
person that you really want to be, and for me, it's just a
sweet girl."

So whether you love her or hate her, there's one thing you
have to admit -- Miley Cyrus is a hit with teeny-boppers
across the nation. Let's help her celebrate her 16th
birthday with these 10 Miley Cyrus quotes.

Piano For Beginners: Adults Who Used To Play Piano Or Want To Learn To Play

Fri, 11/07/2008 - 18:54
Piano For Beginners: Adults Who Used To Play Piano Or Want To Learn To Play

It's true that you never forget certain things that you
learn as a child, like riding a bicycle. Playing piano is
another example. A minimum of two to three years of piano
lessons is enough to instill an indelible knowledge of
piano basics. That knowledge will likely be remembered
throughout adulthood.

However, some adults who have been out of practice for
several years may find returning to piano lessons
challenging. Re-learning piano as an adult can be
intimidating. Starting piano lessons again can be
fulfilling though for those prepared to tackle the
challenges.

One of the biggest challenges of re-learning piano as an
adult is changing methods. Adults who took only a few years
of piano lessons as children may have initially learned to
play by rote. Playing piano by rote focuses more on
memorization and mimicry than on learning to read music and
understand chords.

Children tend to learn very quickly by rote. Children who
learn by this method appear to progress quickly. Eventually
though, as pieces get more difficult, learning tends to
slow down significantly. Grasping new skills becomes
increasingly difficult. This method is becoming less and
less favored by piano instructors today for this reason.

Another hurdle to clear when re-learning piano as an adult
is chords and theory. This is especially true if an adult
took only a few years of piano lessons as a child. Adults
who had five or fewer years of piano lessons likely didn't
learn chord theory. Even adults who learned to read music
as children frequently have trouble grasping chords.

Learning anything (piano or otherwise) is always harder in
adulthood than childhood. It's not impossible though.
Anyone with a foundation in music is at an advantage when
re-learning piano as an adult.

Are you an adult trying to brush up on old piano skills or
learn new ones? Here are four things to consider before you
start:

1. Be willing to put aside old habits. The piano hasn't
changed since you were a child. Teaching methods may have
though. Don't discount a teaching method just because it's
different from what you're used to. Compare different
learning methods before deciding which one is best for you.

2. Be prepared to start from scratch. It will be easier for
you to ease into piano lessons simply because you're
familiar with a keyboard. That doesn't mean it won't be
challenging. Don't expect to play a classical sonata in the
first month. Take things slowly, perhaps even starting with
a refresher of the basics (i.e., scales).

3. Be committed to practicing. Remember your mother nagging
you to practice as a kid? Mom's not around now, so it's up
to you to push yourself. Piano lessons are only as good as
the effort you're willing and able to put in. Make daily
practice time a priority.

4. Find the right teacher. Getting the right piano
instructor makes all the difference in the world. Look for
a teacher who is experienced with working with adults. Make
sure the instructor is familiar with the original method
that you learned. The right instructor should be able to
evaluate your skills within one or two sessions. He or she
will then set you on the right course for re-learning. For
self-motivated adults, there are a couple great piano
teachers online that can get you playing and enjoying
yourself fairly quickly. Type in "play piano" or "piano
lessons for adults" in any search engine and you will
locate them.

Re-learning piano as an adult can be very rewarding. Not
only will you improve your piano skills; you'll stimulate
your brain too. This will probably help you improve other
areas of your life. Adults who take piano lessons often
report a better ability to concentrate. Many also realize a
greater aptitude for learning other new skills. These
things carry over into other parts of adult life, from
work, to hobbies and even raising children.

"Waking Ned Devine" by Kirk Jones Is the Best Comedy I Have Ever Seen - Part 1

"Waking Ned Devine" by Kirk Jones Is the Best Comedy I Have Ever Seen - Part 1

Copyright  2007 Ed Bagley

Waking Ned Devine - 4 Stars (Excellent)

Sooner or later one has to come clean.  When pigeonholed
about what is my favorite comedy, I said some time ago that
"Meet the Fockers" was the best comedy I had seen in a long
time.  What I did not say was what is the best comedy I
have ever seen.

So let me say it here and now: as of Sunday, March 11, 2007
the best comedy I have ever seen is "Waking Ned Devine" and
it is not even a close call.

It would be easy to throw around a bunch of adjectives like
outstanding, fantastic, remarkable, extraordinary, superb
or phenomenal but why bother when you can say this: there
are not another five writer/directors in America that are
better than Kirk Jones and his creation.

In crafting Waking Ned Devine Kirk Jones has done what
dozens of his peers have not done on their best day, and
that is both write and direct a film worthy of being called
the best.

Let me not be shy or just throw out words to fill up space.
Let me name some writer/directors whose effort in a dual
role bred more failure than success:

They include Kimberly Peirce (terrible rating) for Boys
Don't Cry, Vanessa Parise (average rating) for Kiss the
Bride, Peter Weir (average rating) for Master and
Commander: the Far Side of the World, Nancy Myers (average
rating) for Something's Gotta Give, Thomas Bezucha (average
rating) for The Family Stone, Michael McGowan (average
rating) for Saint Ralph, Jared Hess (terrible rating) for
Napoleon Dynamite, Robert Rodriguez (terrible rating) for
Once Upon a Time in Mexico, and Paul Thomas Anderson
(terrible rating) for Punch-Drunk Love.

The worst of these efforts was Paul Thomas Anderson's
Punch-Drunk Love.

There is no question that all of these wannabe
writer/directors probably worked their butt off trying to
win an Academy Award for their effort, and I do not mean to
discredit their time and effort, just their result.
Hopefully, they will learn from experience and get better.

Kirk Jones is almost unique because this was his first
effort at being a writer/director.  He was in very
dangerous territory but talent, judgment and sensibility
can overcome a lot of mistakes.

I would put Kirk Jones in the same incredible class of
writer/directors as Tim McCanlies in Secondhand Lions.
Both Jones and McCanlies are great
writers-not-yet-discovered who become artists painting a
masterpiece when directing.

"Waking Ned Devine" by Kirk Jones Is the Best Comedy I Have Ever Seen - Part 2

Mon, 11/03/2008 - 21:04
"Waking Ned Devine" by Kirk Jones Is the Best Comedy I Have Ever Seen - Part 2

Copyright ) 2007 Ed Bagley

Waking Ned Devine ? 4 Stars (Excellent)

Waking Ned Devine is set in Ireland but filmed on the Isle
of Man, an island in the Irish Sea that is a British crown
possession with home rule.

The Narrator for the film (Paul Vaughan) sets the stage for
the film with this great observation:

"Saturday evening, and the world is much the same as at any
other point in the history of the world. The planets and
stars orbit and spin, and do everything that is expected of
them. On Earth, as the sun sets, millions prepare for an
event that is much less predictable.

"In 63 countries around the world, dozens of lottery
machines spin hundreds of lottery balls. It takes seconds
for the winning numbers to be selected . . .seconds for the
losers to realize that they have lost. But for the winners,
it is an event that will undoubtedly change their lives
forever . . . lucky sods!"

In the tiny Irish village of Tullymore two best
friends?Jackie O'Shea (Ian Bannen) and Michael O'Sullivan
(David Kelly)?discover that someone among them has won the
Irish lottery, and they go to great lengths to find the
winner.

After concocting an elaborate chicken-dinner ploy that
fails to rat out the winner, they plough through a horrific
rainstorm to call on the only person to not attend the
dinner.  When they find the elderly Ned Devine with the
winning ticket is in his hand he is dead.

Imagine Ned Devine at his moment of triumph.  He survived
endless storms upon the sea as a fisherman but ends up
dying of shock in his lazy boy upon discovering his good
fortune.

Jackie O'Shea, being the good Irishman he is, does not want
the money to go to waste and convinces his reluctant friend
Michael O'Sullivan to go along with his plan. You simply
must see what happens when these two pikers get about the
business of dealing with Ned Devine's body.

Jackie's wife Annie (Fionnula Flanagan) is beside herself
when she learns of Jackie's plan, upbraiding Jackie for his
dishonesty and fearing that both of them will end up in
jail.

Jackie, being the creative Irishman he is, lets Annie know
that he has had a dream that the deceased Ned would want to
share his winnings with him.

When Jackie and Michael were skinny-dipping in the sea,
they bump into the claims inspector as he is coming to
interview Ned Devine to settle the claim ticket.  Jackie
takes the claims inspector on a wild goose chase while
trying to find "Ned's" house, and Michael is left to jump
on a moped naked and make a mad dash back to the house
before the inspector arrives.

Earlier, when Jackie's wife Annie learns he has put Michael
up for the part of Ned Devine, she reminds him that "he's
never told a lie in his life."  "Well," replies Jackie,
"he's making up for it now." Michael, nervous as a cat,
does pull it off, and the inspector lets Michael know that
his payout will be almost $6.9 million Irish pounds.

If you can only see one other comedy bit ever, see Michael
O'Sullivan, buck naked, riding that moped like a man
possessed.  It is beyond comedy, it will be legend for
those in the know.

Only when Jackie discovers that the winning ticket is worth
$6.9 million Irish pounds does he realize how out of the
control the situation has become, and that the entire
village will have to become involved to pull off a
deception of this magnitude.

Every villager to a person agrees with the plan except for
Lizzy Quinn (Eileen Dromey), a cantankerous,
wheelchair-bound, b-class whiner who holds out for a hefty
10% take with a threat that she will spill the beans.

When pushed Lizzy (I hope my memory serves me right in
thinking this is the right character) makes good on her
promise, and wheels herself up the road to the pay phone by
the cliff.

Fortunately for the villagers, Lizzy dies when the lottery
claim inspector's car spins out of control and forces an
oncoming van to crash into the phone booth, sending Lizzy
over the cliff before she can report the fraud.

The claims inspector shows up in the middle of the funeral
with the $6.9 million pound check for Ned Devine, sending
all of the attending villagers into a state of emotional
and mental panic.  Jackie O'Shea who is delivering the
eulogy slides into some instant Irish resourcefulness with
this brilliant piece of oratory:

"Michael O'Sullivan was my great friend. But I don't ever
remembering telling him that. The words that are spoken at
a funeral are spoken too late for the man who is dead. What
a wonderful thing it would be to visit your own funeral. To
sit at the front and hear what was said, maybe say a few
things yourself.

"Michael and I grew old together. But at times, when we
laughed, we grew young. If he was here now, if he could
hear what I say, I'd congratulate him on being a great man,
and thank him for being a friend."

Waking Ned Devine is both one of the best comedies ever
made and a classic study in relationships, not just among
friends and families but among a small community as well.

Kirk Jones has given this story heart, risk, honor,
integrity, unity, romance, love, tolerance, chicanery and
Irish whiskey all rolled into a masterpiece of
storytelling.  Waking Ned Devine is the funniest film I
have ever seen.

Because Ned Devine is a comedy and also a story about
relationships among common people, this, as much as
anything, gives it such solid goodness despite the
deception. I mean really, who wants to give $6.9 million
Irish pounds back to the government when it really belongs
to the people?

There are other subplots in Waking Ned Devine too good to
detail here. We learn of the romance between Maggie O'Toole
(Susan Lynch) and Pig Finn (James Nesbitt), a pig farmer
Maggie would like to marry if she did not have to smell him.

We learn that Maggie has a son, and Pig Finn wonders if he
is the father. We learn that the real father is none other
than Ned Devine, and that the son is rightfully due the
entire $6.9 million pounds as the legal heir. Maggie,
thankfully, realizes that a rising tide lifts all ships to
a better place.

Waking Ned Devine ends with Jackie O'Shea, Michael
O'Sullivan, Maggie's boy and Pig Finn all raising a toast
to Ned Devine while standing on a cliff overlooking the
sea. A better comedy I may not see in my lifetime.

Sadly, recognition for Kirk Jones, the cast, outstanding
casting by John and Ros Hubbard, and cinematography by
Henry Braham all go without their proper due.

To prove there is some small measure of justice in the
world, the budget for Waking Ned Devine was estimated at $3
million and this independent film has generated at least
$43 million worldwide and the video is still raking in more
bucks.

There are 6.9 million reasons to see Waking Ned Devine, but
here is the best one: Kirk Jones. I raise a second toast of
Jameson's to Kirk Jones' effort. I may only be 15% Irish,
but it is the best 15% of me. I am a better person for
having seen Waking Ned Devine.

(Editor's Note: This is Part 2 of a 2-Part review.)

Ten Myths about Mentoring Careers in Entertainment

Sat, 11/01/2008 - 19:24
Ten Myths about Mentoring Careers in Entertainment

Webster's dictionary defines a mentor as: Main Entry:
1men tor Pronunciation:  men- to r,
-t r Function: noun Etymology: Latin, from Greek
Ment r Date: 1616 1capitalized : a friend of Odysseus
entrusted with the education of Odysseus' son Telemachus2
a: a trusted counselor or guide b: tutor, coach
men tor ship - ship noun

If you are interested in a career in the entertainment
industry - such as wanting to learn how to be a producer or
a director, or to learn about a career as a sportscaster,
then chances are you will be studying through a mentor
program with a working professional as your teacher.

If this is the case then here are ten myths about today's
contemporary trends in mentoring - valuable informaiton you
will want to know. Whether you want to learn to be a film
producer, or need to learn how to be a recording artist, or
are interested in a career in radio, learning from an
entertainment professional is the best way for you to learn
the profession. Some of the myths include:

1) Mentoring is probably the most frequently used method of
sharing knowledge in our society worldwide. Anyone with the
experience to be a powerful learning influence should be a
mentor. TURE.

2) Effective mentoring is all about both parties perceiving
benefits. The best mentors are not always people who set
out to be mentors. One-on-one, face-to-face mentoring is
easier today thanks to the Internet and modern technology.
TRUE.

3) Mentoring requires a huge chunk of time that most
professional executives can't afford. NOT TRUE. Mentoring
is about helping someone else learn from you while you are
both working. The reality is that it can increase
on-the-job  performance for both parties as well as provide
valuable career opportunities for the student who is
trained.

4) There is no loss of productivity because mentoring
actually improves productivity -- through better
communication, clarity of goals, commitment, and planning.
TRUE.

5) Age isn't a factor for mentors, because technology,
innovation, and other skills such as the Internet marketing
are happening so fast today that often mentors end up
training older folks. TRUE.

6) Youth with bad attitudes can't learn by a mentor. NOT
TRUE. Most young people often view an older mentor guide
with respect, so they will listen and learn.

7) Today's changing economy and globalization means that
learning increases job stability. TRUE.

8) When provided with a vision and purpose combined with
skill training and support, adults were more likely to
volunteer as a mentor. TRUE.

9) Students do not learn as much in a classroom as they
learn while experiencing the job via a mentor. FALSE.

10) Mentoring is one of the most economical, productive and
successful forms of teaching students today. TRUE.

As mentors share their experiences, it is clear that taking
the student out of the classroom for careers such as film,
radio or recording works better. Students who learn while
they are on real film sets will learn by doing the job
while they learn, one-on-one with a mentor who is a working
professional in the area that they want to study.

Creative Photography: Lenses, Perspective And Depth Of Field.

Fri, 10/31/2008 - 21:14
Creative Photography: Lenses, Perspective And Depth Of Field.

When shopping for a digital camera, the quality and power
of the lens is one of the first things we want to know. But
do most photographers, especially beginners, really
understand what can be achieved through creative use of
lenses?

The difference between a wide angle lens and a telephoto
lens is about more than just magnification. To get the most
out of your lenses, you also need to understand how they
affect depth of field and perspective.

Of course you know that a telephoto lens makes everything
bigger. But did you also know that when you zoom in, or
attach your large telephoto lens, you also reduce the depth
of field around the subject? This is a great method for
eliminating a distracting background from your photo. Not
only will the narrow field of view reduce the visual area
of the background, it will also be so far out of focus as
to be practically invisible.

Therefore when you are photographing people, animals or
flowers outdoors, zooming in or using a telephoto lens is
usually often the best approach. The result will be a very
three dimensional effect, with the subject appearing to
emerge sharp and clear from the blurry background.

On the other hand, your wide-angle lens does just the
opposite. It certainly does a lot more than just make
everything appear smaller. The wide angle lens takes in (as
the name suggests) a much wider angle of view, and it has a
much stronger depth of field than a standard or telephoto
lens. That means that not only will you see a lot more of
the background in your photo, but it will also be much more
focused.

Consequently the wide-angle lens is not so good for
portrait style photos, because the background is too
distracting. On the other hand, it is excellent for
landscape pictures, especially when you have objects both
in the foreground and background that you need to keep in
focus.

The other aspect of your choice of lens is perspective,
which is a lot harder to explain without pictures, but I
will give it a go.

Have you ever watched a cricket match on television? (If
you are from the United States substitute baseball here).
You will often see a close-up of the batsman, and notice
that the wicket-keeper (shortstop) appears to be standing
only a few feet behind him, and that the crowd in the
grandstand seems only a short distance further away. When
you see a side-on view, you may be surprised to see that
the wicket-keeper is standing about ten meters behind the
batsman, and of course we know that the grandstand is a
good 60 meters or so further back. So what's going on?

The answer is simple. The very large telephoto lens used
for the close-up shot tends to make objects at different
distances seem much closer to each other than they really
are. In short, it compresses the natural perspective,
making people separated by some distance appear to be quite
close to each other.

The same effect applies to landscape photography. Imagine a
scene with a tree in the foreground and a mountain range in
the distance. If you stand a long way back from the tree
and enlarge it with a telephoto lens, you will also enlarge
the mountains in the distance, making them seem much closer
than they really are.

Now imagine taking the same scene with a wide-angle lens.
By standing a lot closer to the tree, you can photograph it
in such a way that it takes up the same amount of space in
the composition. However, by reducing the scene to fit the
tree in the frame, you also reduce the background...making
it appear much further away than it really is.

In this way, the wide-angle lens does the opposite of the
telephoto lens. It exaggerates the perspective, making
objects at different distances appear much further apart
than they really are.

Put simply, the end result of these two approaches is this;
the telephoto lens adds prominence to the background, which
will appear relatively large in your photos (albeit with
depth of field issues in some cases). The wide-angle lens
adds prominence to the foreground, making the background
appear much smaller and more distant.

Thus by simply changing your choice of lenses, you can
dramatically alter the impact of your photos. Imagine the
creative possibilities; you have the power to control how
the viewer sees not only your subject, but how it relates
to the surroundings at the same time.

This is a tough subject to explain without pictures, but
hey - you have a digital camera. Why not step outside right
now and try out a few of these ideas. Or if you are feeling
lazy, sit down and watch some sport on telly. It may
actually teach you something about photography.

Digital Photography: Understanding ISO

Thu, 10/30/2008 - 23:50
Digital Photography: Understanding ISO

ISO in digital photography is not complex, yet many new
photographers have a hard time learning and understanding
this fundamental aspect of photography.

I suspect this is because of the way it is being taught.
You see, ISO started out as a property of film, and it was
much easier to visualise it in terms of the old technology.
So that's where I want to start my explanation, before
bringing you into the 21st century with ISO today.

ISO actually started out as ASA, which stands for American
Standards Association. Decades ago, a commercial film
manufacturer came up with a set of numbers to define the
sensitivity of different types of film. That set of numbers
was accepted by the American Standards Association, so all
American manufacturers could use the same system. Later,
the American standard was adopted by the International
Standards Organization, so ASA became ISO.

What does all that mean? Well, it means that the letters
ISO didn't really stand for anything except for the name of
an organization.

What is important is what ISO referred to, which was the
sensitivity of the film. Some films were made to react
faster to light, and some to react slower. Slower films had
a smaller ISO number, like 25, 64, 100. Faster films had a
higher number, like 200, 400, 800.

A slow film needed a relatively high level of light to
create a well-exposed photo. That meant that to take a
photo in darker conditions, you would need to use a fairly
wide aperture and/or a fairly slow shutter speed to get a
result. On the other hand, a faster film reacted to light a
lot more quickly, so it needed much less exposure to light
to take a photo.

Fast film sounds pretty good, doesn't it? A chance to take
a photo in any conditions without a tripod, and to freeze
moving subjects with very fast shutter speeds. So why
didn't everyone just use fast films all the time?

The answer is that the advantages of fast films came with a
trade-off; loss of image quality. The grains of emulsion on
a fast film were larger, so a photo taken on a film with
ISO 400 or 800 had a rougher, 'grainier' look. This may not
have been a problem in a small print, but became quite
apparent with big enlargements. Consequently, most
professional photographers preferred to use slower films of
100 or 64 ISO for most of their work.

So is this just a lesson in ancient history? After all, you
have a digital camera, so what does all this have to do
with you. Well, the remarkable thing is that despite the
massive shift in technology, for all practical purposes ISO
has not changed at all.

You should be able to set the ISO on your camera to suit
your needs. Just like in the days of film, if you set your
ISO to a low number like 100, you will need more light to
create a correct exposure. That means that you may need to
keep a tripod handy for cloudy days, and in certain
low-light situations you may not always get the aperture
and shutter speed settings you want. If you set your ISO to
400 or 800, your camera will become much more sensitive to
light; you will be able to shoot in exactly the same
conditions without a tripod, and with greater flexibility
to choose the aperture and shutter speeds you want.

But here is the amazing part. Higher ISO settings still
come with the same trade-off that once existed with film.
With the increased sensitivity to light, you will also have
to accept a grainier image. I don't know if it is
pixellation, or digital noise, or a combination of both,
but it is generally understood that for all their
advantages, high ISO photos come with a reduction of image
quality that becomes more obvious the more you enlarge the
image.

So there you have a quick introduction to what ISO is all
about. Perhaps I am just showing my age, but I find this
subject easier to explain in old-technology terms. For many
people it is easier to visualise when related to something
solid like film, rather than something that happens on a
computer chip. Anyway, I hope this helps you if you have
had trouble understanding what ISO is all about.

Investigate Online Perversion For Custody Evidence

Mon, 10/27/2008 - 04:20
Investigate Online Perversion For Custody Evidence

Are you in the middle of a bitter custody struggle?
Evidence of inappropriate Internet activity, sexual
perversion, online porn addictions and online escort
services could tip the scales in your favor.

Everyone knows that one of the most difficult struggles a
parent can face is a contentious custody battle. It takes
it's toll on our health and well being but worst of all it
harms the innocent children caught in the middle. Your
child is the most precious creation on Earth and they
should not be exposed to a parent involved in the seediest
side of the Internet. Porn, extreme fetishes, escort services.

As highlighted in the recent public divorce case of actor
Charlie Sheen interest in Internet pornography and online
escort services can be submitted to the court for
consideration in deciding child custody cases.

Likewise in the custody case involving Christie Brinkley
and her husband Peter Cook, the judge considered evidence
of Mr Cook's spending $3000 a month on Internet porn
services. Including one such service where he was caught
masturbating on a computer video camera in full view of
other members.

Many lawyers will retain the services of a local private
investigator to dig up dirt on the other parent. But in
most case these investigators will not specialize in
Internet investigations. They will completely overlook the
evidence available online.

For instance:

1. A secret Myspace page that includes mention or even
pictures of drug use, prostitution, heavy drinking,
inappropriate associations.

2. Secret personal ad memberships that may be on swinger
sites or extreme fetish sites.

3. Membership in online communities for escort services and
their clients.

4. Membership to extreme porn sites or porn cam sites.

5. A secret online blog that describes addictions or other
harmful  behavior.

An investigator that specializes in uncovering these
Internet activities can provide you with an online
infidelity report that can tip the scales in your favor
when the judge is making that final decision.

If you suspect your opponent in a custody battle  may be
involved in some perverted online activity you may want to
hire an investigator. Before you do so, be sure that the
investigator you choose has experience in Internet
investigations and locating secret personal ads and social
networking sites like Myspace. Do a Google search on their
name or their company name to see if they are recognized as
an expert in email tracing and online infidelity
investigations.

It's Better to Buy Your Tickets Online, Than to Wait in Line!

Fri, 10/17/2008 - 11:34
It's Better to Buy Your Tickets Online, Than to Wait in Line!

Most people are agreed that the best way to buy concert
tickets is online. In the past, when there was going to be
a really good gig, it was always hard to lay one's hands on
tickets, and you had to spend a lot of money and time
trying to get what you wanted, but then the internet
changed all that. There is no doubt that the best way to
buy concert tickets these days is through the Internet.
Google is your friend - a simple search on this search
engine, and you can most likely find the site where you can
get tickets to see your favorite acts. Two very good sites
for tickets are Ticketmaster and TicketsNow.

Some of the companies with websites for selling popular
tickets actually pay people to stand in line for premium
tickets, and buy the tickets just to resell them online.
Some people say that this is technically illegal, but the
truth is that the ticket companies are rarely prosecuted
for this practice.

Ticketmaster is a highly reputable company, but they do
charge rather high fees, so you should bear this in mind if
you decide to go through them. They are however a very safe
choice, and have a fine reputation for being one of the
leading companies in the ticket selling business. If you
take a look at their website, you will find that they do
have some promotions and special offers.

One thing that a lot of people do is to visit eBay in their
search for tickets. Click on the "eBay Stores" menu, then
click on "Tickets", and this will bring up a list of ticket
broker websites. Apart from this, eBay can be a good place
to browse for tickets because a lot of people buy tickets
in advance, only to find later that they cannot actually go
to the concert due to other commitments, so they sell the
tickets on eBay, sometimes for very reasonable prices.

However, when shopping on eBay, do take the usual
precautions that are necessary with the site. If a member
is new, and has no feedback score, you might be better off
not dealing with them. Only deal with people who have at
least ten items of feedback, and make sure that their
feedback score is good. This way you will only be dealing
with people who are reputable. All purchases made on eBay
are now insured, so if your tickets turned out to be
counterfeit, you would be able to get your money back.
However you would miss the gig.

A good website for buying tickets online is BuySellTix,
which offers tickets to a large number of popular concerts
and events. They have a good reputation for fine customer
service, and the site has a good search engine where you
can look for tickets by artist, city, musical genre, and so
on.

Before buying tickets online make sure that you are dealing
with a reputable company. You might verify that the company
or site are reputable by checking them out with the Better
Business Bureau. Check also if they possess an SSL
certificate which makes their transactions secure.

Buying tickets online can be very convenient, saving you a
lot of time and trouble, as long as you find the right
seller.

Tour Concert Tickets Online

Fri, 10/17/2008 - 11:18
Tour Concert Tickets Online

Bands and artists often promote their latest album by doing
a tour. As well as its promotional value, the tour also
makes a significant amount of profit for the artists,
despite the fact that it can be both incredibly hard work
to organize and to do, with bands now generally doing tours
that cover a number of major cities in a number of
countries. The tour is one way for the artists to make some
sort of contact with their fans, and playing to a live
audience has a fantastic buzz that cannot be simply
recreated in the studio. For the fans, the tour is the one
opportunity they will get to see their favorite musicians
and singers play live, and conveys an atmosphere that you
cannot get just from sitting at home listening to a CD.

However, the more popular the band, the harder it is to get
tickets to see them, with big name bands such as the
Rolling Stones, U2, Bon Jovi, or Jay-Z being quite hard to
get tickets for. In these cases, the fans of the bands
might have to go to quite a lot of trouble to get hold of
tickets, standing in line for ages, just to get a couple of
tickets for the gig. They may even end up having to pay
over the odds when some unscrupulous person buys more
tickets than they really need, and then sells them on at
inflated prices.

There are obviously certain disadvantages to buying your
concert tickets in the traditional way of standing in line
at the box office, and thanks to the internet, we can avoid
the inconvenience of all this, and buy our tickets online
instead.

Many websites where you can buy tickets for events also
have detailed schedules of the performances of all the top
acts which you can check out in advance. The sites are also
usually a great source of information about your favorite
bands and artists, and have numerous promotional articles
to generate interest in the performers. The search facility
that a website allows comes in very handy when you want to
do a search on your on favorite artists, and find out what
their latest upcoming tour dates are. You can use such
sites as a one stop shop for all the tickets that you want
to buy in the near future. Just a few mouse clicks saves
you all the bother of a trip to the box office. Payment is
very convenient with such sites, and most of them take the
major credit cards, which allows you to spread the cost of
your ticket buying over a few months.

An added advantage to the advent of websites dealing in
event tickets is the element of competition. Because they
are all under some pressure to undercut each other, this
has the overall effect of bringing down the cost of the
tickets, and online you are more likely to find the good
bargains than anywhere else.

Overall, buying tickets online as opposed to offline wins
hands down in terms of price, convenience and easy access
to information.

5 Tips for Awesome Fireworks Photos

Mon, 10/13/2008 - 06:59
5 Tips for Awesome Fireworks Photos

Fourth of July is right around the corner and capturing the
light-filled moments of the fireworks is something we may
have all attempted.  Unfortunately, we sometimes end up
with prints that look foggy, blurry, and painted with a
mixture of light -- that look nothing like the fireworks we
had viewed.  Here's the great news -- making the photos
better is simple if you follow a few tips.

Lights, camera, action

Turning the independence holiday into a memorable event is
easier than you think.  Check out these strategies for
taking some fabulous fireworks photos.

#1 Don't overexpose your picture.

Photos have a unique quality when it comes to fireworks:
you should take them at a precise moment.  If your camera
is set to snap the photo in the wrong number of seconds,
you'll lose the shot you were looking for and end up with a
smoky, blurry mess.  Manually set your camera to snap in
1.6 seconds.  You'll catch the vibrant burst you were
looking for and the film will display it beautifully.

#2 Use a tripod.

Fireworks aren't just about glorious light in the sky.
They're also about the movement of the lights.  Handheld
cameras lack the ability to stay still long enough to
depict the firework in its true form.  A tripod helps you
hold steady and get the shot you were aiming for.

#3 Lose the flash.

Many of us may see the flash as an assistant during dark
photos.  Unfortunately, the flash won't do anything for a
fireworks shot.  Leave the flash turned off during all of
your fireworks photo snapping.

#4 Use low ISO.

Taking photos of fireworks is much different than it is for
most other picture subjects.   The best part of the
snapshot is the color embedded with the look of falling
fire stars.  To make this come out beautifully on your
photos, your ISO (i.e. light sensitivity) needs to be low.
I recommend that you manually change your ISO to the speed
of 100 to help your camera better portray the air show in
the dark.

#5 Don't trust your camera's automatic features.

I know what you're thinking.  You bought that camera
because of all of the automatic features it boasts and
you'd like to use them.  Well, for fireworks photos,
cameras don't detect the light properly and usually end up
taking photos that come out blurry and overexposed.  Try
the manual settings on your camera and your shots will be
clearer.

This Fourth of July, pull your camera out and try some of
these tips.  You'll have some gorgeous memories of the
fireworks in the night sky.

----------------------------------------------------
Looking to take amazing photographs of fireworks this 4th
of July?  Just follow these tips and tricks!  And for even
more great information go to 7PhotographyQuestions.com and
listen to Master Photographer Jim Zuckerman offer inside
secrets on how to take stunning photographs at night,
including extraordinary fireworks photographs.

Who'd have thought a ventriloquist could make it big on old time radio

Mon, 10/06/2008 - 19:41
Who'd have thought a ventriloquist could make it big on old time radio

It may seem hard to believe that a ventriloquist could make
a successful career out of a radio show, but incredibly the
Edgar Bergen/Charlie McCarthy Show was a massive hit due to
the comedic timing and talent of Edgar Bergen.

Bergen was born in 1903 and learned the art of
ventriloquism at a young age. Edgar commissioned the
creation of a dummy from a local craftsman and gave him the
name Charlie McCarthy and the cheeky personality of a boy
and womanizer who was able to get away with double entendre.

Edgar Bergen and Charlie McCarthy became a duo that played
at talent shows in the Midwest while Bergen was in college
at Northwestern. Eventually he left school and began to
perform his act full-time.

In the 1930s he performed in New York and even toured
Europe and South America with his show, but slowly
vaudeville lost popularity due to new forms of media such
as film and radio.

Radio wasn't the obvious choice for a ventriloquist, but
Bergen didn't let that put him off. In 1936 he and his
dummy, Charlie McCarthy, appeared on the Royal Gelatin Hour
on NBC. As odd as it seemed to have a ventriloquist on the
radio, his humor and wit made him a fan favorite instantly.

In 1937 he was rewarded with his own spot, The Edgar
Bergen/Charlie McCarthy Show, on NBC, which became an
overnight success. The show was so popular that it ran on
various networks until 1956.

In the first year of the show, Bergen was involved in a
controversy while performing the Mae West 'Adam and Eve'
skit. He made remarks that were considered inappropriate,
which brought unwanted attention from the Federal
Communications Commission in 1938. However, the controversy
passed and the show gained even more popularity.

Over the years, Edgar added more characters to his act. The
most famous of these were the slow-witted but loveable
Mortimer Snerd and the man-eating Effie Klinker. While one
would normally consider a ventriloquist act dependent on
visualization, the show continued to be popular on the
radio and although it would seem a natural progression he
did very few television performances.

In 1978, Bergen made the decision to retire and donated
Charlie to the Smithsonian Institute. A week later he
passed away after performing in a show with Andy Williams.

Today, Charlie and two other puppets, Mortimer Snerd and
Effie Klinker, are on display at the Radio Hall of Fame and
Museum in Chicago and in 1990 The Edgar Bergen & Charlie
McCarthy Show was inducted into the Radio Hall of Fame.

Piano Lessons: How To Read Notes Quickly

Piano Lessons: How To Read Notes Quickly

Recognizing the names of the bass and treble staff notes
can be fun and rather simple. Before we begin, remember
that the treble staff is where you will find all your right
hand notes, and the bass staff is where you will find all
your left hand notes.

All you have to do is memorize a word for each note, like
this.

Bass staff space notes: *A C E G (All Cows Eat Grass)

Bass staff line notes: *G B D F A (Good Boys Do Fine
Always)

Treble staff space notes: *F A C E (This spells "face")

Treble staff line notes: *E G B D F (Every Good Boy
Deserves Fudge)

*The first word/letter is always the bottom of the staff.

Now the fun begins. Here are some simple and fun ways to
memorize these notes.

1) Speed Run: See how fast you can say the names of the
notes. Try doing it first with the words, and then with
the letter names only.

2) Reverse Speed Run: Now see how fast you can practice
saying the letter names in reverse. This is a great way to
see just how well you know the letter names.

3) Say-n-Play: While sitting at your piano, say the
letter name out loud and then play it on the keyboard. If
you are using flashcards, mix them up so that you can
select a card at random and do the same activity. This is
a very good memorization activity.

4) Play Them All: Now comes a fun way to test your
knowledge. Say out loud the note then play all of those
notes on the entire keyboard. For example, you have
selected the note "A." Play all the "A" keys on the entire
keyboard.

5) Flash Cards: Make a set of flash cards with one note
on a staff on one side, and the answer on the other side.
(Don't forget to specify which staff: bass or treble with
the bass or treble clef sign.)

The sooner one can memorize the names of the notes and
recognize where they are found on the keyboard, the more
enjoyment that can be found playing the keyboard. Just
like you learned the ABC's for reading you'll be a great
success at learning your ABCDEFG's for the keyboard.

This is a quick and fun way to learn how to read and
recognize notes written on the staff and on the piano.
However, there is no replacement for learning how to sound
smooth and pretty on the piano than with step by step
instruction and with songs that allows gradual progress.

Enjoy!

Wildlife Photography - Eliminating An Unwanted Background

Wildlife Photography - Eliminating An Unwanted Background

Wildlife photography is such an inspirational field; it is
easy to see why so many photographers, both amateur and
professional, become fascinated by this rewarding pursuit.

Choosing a good subject for a wildlife photo is never
difficult. The variety of characters in the animal kingdom
provides a never-ending source of material. Even better,
some of the best subjects can be found in the cities, even
in our own backyards. You don't have to be an intrepid
world traveller to enjoy a satisfying hobby as a wildlife
photographer.

It can be a real challenge to capture a natural looking
photo in a suburban setting. If you can eliminate any
man-made distractions from your photo, you can create the
illusion of an image captured in a totally natural
environment.

A bad background can really spoil the impact of a good
wildlife subject, but how do we avoid it? Of course these
days there are plenty of people who would just edit it out
using a computer, but (believe it or not) most people still
prefer to rely on their camera skills rather than on
software.

Here are some simple tips to help you eliminate a bad
background from your wildlife photos.

The first thing to do is simply position yourelf to find
the best angle to take your photo. Imagine you are trying
to photograph a bird in a tree. From one angle, you might
be able to see power lines or the roof of the house in the
background. If you move to a better angle, you may be able
to capture the green foliage of the tree as your background
instead.

This may seem obvious, but one reason so many photos fail
is because the photographer doesn't bother to make this
small extra effort.

Secondly, you need to try to reduce the amount of
background that is visible in your photo. This can be as
simple as getting as close as possible to the subject and
using your largest lens. This is a very easy technique.
Moving closer ensures the subject fills as much of the
frame as possible. Your largest lens (or the largest zoom
on your lens) narrows the field of view in a photo so that
the focus in on the subject, not on the surroundings.

The other benefit of a large lens is that it has a
naturally narrow depth of field. This means while your
subject is in focus, everything in front and behind is a
blur. So not only does the telephoto lens reduce the amount
of background that is visible in your photo; what you can
see should be completely out of focus.

The final step to eliminate a distracting background is to
open the aperture as wide as possible. This is simple
photography theory; a wide aperture produces a narrow depth
of field. So if you are already using a large lens, and you
add a narrow aperture as well, you reduce your depth of
field to its absolute minimum. Now you should be able to
produce an almost three dimensional image, with your
sharply focused subject emerging from a totally
out-of-focus background.

As you can see from the simplicity of these guidelines, it
is easy to reduce the distraction of an unattractive
background. It doesn't take fancy equipment or a diploma in
photography. All it takes is a little extra effort, and
understanding how to use the camera you have.

Now consider all the situations where these tips can
improve your photos. You could take your wildlife photos at
the zoo, or in your own backyard and create the impression
they were taken in the wild. Even if your background is not
that ugly, it can provide a distraction from the main
subject. By putting the background out of focus, it becomes
a soft palette of colour that makes the subject really
stand out.

Best of all, these are techniques you can try today - so
happy snapping!

Oasis - Dig Out Your Soul

Mon, 09/22/2008 - 19:08
Oasis - Dig Out Your Soul

Oasis' 7th studio album and their first since 2005's Don't
Believe The Truth is titled Dig Out Your Soul and is due
out worldwide on October 6th and in the United States on
October 7th. While most Oasis fans were (and are) very
satisfied with Don't Believe The Truth it certainly wasn't
a big step forward as much as it was a return to form. Dig
Out Your Soul is a big step forward. It's Oasis confidently
moving out of their comfort zone into more experimental
songwriting, arrangements, and production. And it's because
of that new direction that Dig Out Your Soul is a very
exciting album and a very good album. It is certainly one
of the best of the year is arguably Oasis' best album to
date, if not it's definitely their most psychedelic.

The album starts off very strong with "Bag It Up" (with a
great doubled vocal on the verse and a awesome singalong
chorus) & "The Turning" (with a great groove and awesome
choir backing vocals) and only gets better from there.

All three of the Noel Gallagher sung tracks are truly
excellent and among the best (and most inventive songs)
he's written (and sung) yet. "Waiting for the Rapture" is
both dirty and spacey at the same time. It's a great mix
and the vocal line is mesmerizing.

"(Get Off Your) High Horse Lady" is another album highlight
(one of many.) Noel Gallagher's voice & the rhythm guitar
sounds like they were recorded through an old radio or a
phone which gives the song a very spooky sound when
combined with the the big drums, handclaps, and guitar
riffs. It's a really surreal mix of big drums & a sort of
country sound that's hard to explain. One thing is for
sure, Oasis has never done a song like this before. For
those who don't think Oasis is a creative band, listen to
this track to be proven wrong.

"Falling Down" is the 3rd Noel sung track and it also
sounds unlike anything Oasis has recorded before. It's a
very rhythmically based track (like so many songs on this
album that showcase Oasis "getting into the groove" like
never before) but it also features a great catchy vocal
line.

Liam Gallagher wrote three songs for the album with "I'm
Outta Time" being a true standout track. It's likely to be
the favorite track of many who hear this album because it
features one of Oasis' best melodies ever and Liam sings it
beautifully. The production & arrangement is also perfect
as it has an experimental/psychedelic edge but at the same
time it sounds entirely "classic." Certainly some will say
that it sounds too much like a John Lennon tune and
definitely Liam wears his influences on his sleeve but this
is a great song and I don't hear it "ripping off" any song
in particular so I don't think that complaint has any merit.

Bassist Andy Bell & guitarist Gem Archer both contribute
one song each as songwriters with excellent results.

Archer's trippy "To Be Where There's Life" is one of the
album highlights without a doubt. Sitar + great groove +
stunning bass line = awesome. And once again it doesn't
sound quite like anything Oasis has recorded before.

Bell's "The Nature of Reality" has an incredible Led
Zeppelin-esque stomp which mixes in perfectly with one of
the best guitar riffs I've heard in a long while. When
those drums drop, I get chills. A great musical moment.

The album ends in a trance like fashion with Liam
Gallagher's "Soldier On."

Regardless of whether you like Oasis already or not, I must
highly recommend you give this album a chance. Oasis have
long been remarkable for the catchy tunes & riffs they
write and now they are just as remarkable for the creative
arrangements, songwriting, & production they bring to the
table. This is a modern psychedelic rock masterpiece.

well. Free movie downloading is a fantastic way to make the
most of your favorite cinema, free from the patters of a

ways for free movie downloads; nevertheless, it is
essential to download only the piracy free and copyright

Apart from the free movie downloading sites, there are
other alternatives which are:

P2P networks
Apart from the free movie download, another method for free
movie downloads via online is to make use of the P2P

many of the movie files on the P2P network are bootleg

with viruses or spyware since the movie files are
distributed freely. The speed of your free movie
downloading might also differ depending on the file you
