Internet Addiction

Sun, 11/16/2008 - 19:47
Internet Addiction

Internet addiction is a very real condition that affects
households worldwide. What is it that causes this? What are
the symptoms? Many people mistakenly believe it's merely a
penchant for checking email or losing track of time while
playing a game. Internet addiction is not the same and it's
consequences can be far more devastating.

Any addiction becomes an actual "addiction" when it
negatively affects the lives of both the addict and all
those around them. Internet addiction has taken so many
years to become established due to the disbelief many have
over its legitimacy. Most internet addicts do have an
ulterior motive for being online so much. It may be a
private method for indulging in what is actually a gambling
or pornography addiction. Substance abusers may find it
easier to purchase their drug of choice through the
internet. Many internet addicts, however, aren't classified
with any of these more typical vices.

There are individuals who like to use the internet as a
method of escape from their daily lives. Some may have
complete alter identities through the internet. This form
of addiction is completely psychological. The "fix" is
pretending to be someone else.

The greatest tragedy to it all is that those around the
addicted individual are the real victims. They watch their
loved ones morph into someone else. They see the mood
swings and make excuses to others. They must not only
endure the emotional "mess" they must clean up after their
loved one.

It's fairly easy to spot internet addiction. The addicted
individual withdraws from real people and becomes more
focused with individuals they know online. They often make
excuses to stay home more, but when they are home, they may
seem apprehensive or depressed until they can find a good
reason to go online.

They want complete privacy when they are online. If you try
to talk to them, you will be ignored. Many will not even
stop to talk with people who are visiting. They may exhibit
personality qualities much like "Dr. Jekyll / Mr. Hyde."
They are horrible to live with offline, but as long as they
have that connection, they are relatively normal.

It often requires professional help to break internet
addiction. The most important step is to force the
individual to see there is a serious problem. This can be
skyrocketing bills from gambling or substances. It may be
serious problems in the workplace due to inattention or
inactivity. It may be issues at school with children. The
best time to act is now. Internet addiction is completely
curable and there's no reason to endure it any longer.

Find the Perfect Florida Moving Company

Mon, 11/03/2008 - 21:06
Find the Perfect Florida Moving Company

Florida is a beautiful place to live. With its long
beaches, vast oceanfront, and many attractions, it is easy
to see why many people want to live here. More and more
people are moving here each year, and you too can be one of
them. In order to make your transition to the state easier,
however, you need to find the perfect Florida moving
company.

Choosing a Method

Before you can find a Florida moving company, you need to
choose the method that you are going to use to move. This
method can be anything from a truck rental to a full
service company. There are many different companies out
there that offer all kinds of options, so you need to make
this choice first. If you plan on moving yourself, then you
should look into Florida moving companies that offer truck
rentals or portable storage. Otherwise, there is a large
selection of full service companies in the area as well.

Choosing the Right Company

With so many different companies out there, it can be hard
to find the one that is the best for you and your
situation. Once you have decided on a method, however, your
choices should be narrowed down a bit. It is now that you
need to start contacting these companies in order to get a
price estimate on your move. Remember, you need to find a
good Florida moving company, so make sure that you ask each
company you talk to if they work in Florida or not.

Get Moving Quotes

Moving quotes are essential to finding the perfect company.
Getting an idea of how much a company will charge you for
their service will be very helpful when you want to choose
a company. You obviously do not want to pay more than you
have to for a move, but you do want to have all the options
that you want available to you. Contacting companies who
work in the area will enable you to find prices as well as
options before you pick a company.

Settling on One

After you have all of your information in order, you can
choose a company. This can be kind of a tough choice,
depending on if you have enough moving quotes. It is best
to look over everything that you have and then make a
second call to the couple of companies that made it to your
short list. Ask the companies any questions that you might
have come up with and see if they are willing to answer
them to your satisfaction.

Once you have a good idea of what company you want to go
with, call them and reserve your dates. Make sure that you
get everything in writing and that it is all legally
binding. If you are renting a truck, make sure that you
plan on arriving early in the day so that your truck is
readily available. Remember, some truck rental companies
will double book in order to make sure that all of their
trucks are rented each day.

Once you complete these final steps, you can sit back and
take a deep breath. You are well on your way to moving to a
new state. You have found the perfect Florida moving
company, and you can have the peace of mind knowing that
this company will take care of you throughout the duration
of your relocation.

Lessons from the Life Classroom, A Grandfather's Legacy

Mon, 11/03/2008 - 21:03
Lessons from the Life Classroom, A Grandfather's Legacy

Many lasting life lessons are not academic, but are the
soul's spiritual lessons for growth through adversity.
These are moments of transformation and illumination felt
deeply as you are in alignment with a universal higher and
greater power.I was honored to witness many of these
lessons through my daughter, during the final days of my
stepfather's life.

Treasuring my daughter from the moment he knew she would
arrive, we all saw their special connection. As Parkinson's
disease and strokes began robbing him of independence and
his tremendous intellect, she was eleven. She had lived
through her parent's divorce, moving, my Mom's cancer and
her father's suicide. I wondered if she would protect her
already fragile heart, or be open and vulnerable by loving
him through his full lifespan.

Seeing him as the precious grandparent he had always been,
through more than 2 years of hospitalizations and nursing
home stays she lit up his face with every visit. After
wheeling her new bike up to the second floor of the nursing
home to show her Dan-Dan, she proudly rode it right out the
front door! My daughter creatively included him in her
life, and as she adapted, found her love still fit.

During our last Christmas together my stepfather struggled
to share his last advice for her to "take advantage of
every opportunity". A simple message,it reflected his life
philosophy. After the holidays, his life's journey was
nearing an end, and hard decisions for end of life measures
brought anguish for my Mother. From three hours away, the
stress of being apart was enormous, and weekend visits and
late night phone calls left us living on edge.

Then came a mid-week call indicating that the time was
near; sleeping more than awake, doctors said soon he would
only sleep away. School was concerned about absences, but we
knew we had to go, as we knew the pricelessness of closure,
and the empty pain of having none.

The bright blue February day contrasted with the grayness
of the pain we felt; we had lived through the death of my
ex-husband, and knew what my 75 year old Mom was soon to
endure.Entering the hospital room felt like we had entered
a different dimension; it was not the setting but the
circumstance that felt alien. This was not what life should
come to, not a life well-lived in service to others. Our
hope was for a meaningful and memorable visit, but I saw
that we had entered a different form of "life classroom".

He was no longer hooked up to tubes he hated but seemingly
unaware of our presence; we learned that he had been awake
the day before. Perhaps we had missed the opportunity for
him to know our goodbye. Uneasy, but staying close, my
daughter hated seeing him so thin, his white hair not so
clean. Together we gently washed it one last time, and like
always, she gently put lotion on his thin skin.I watched
her care for her "Dan- Dan", much as he had cared for her
as an infant, her eyes filled with love and acceptance.
Life is a full circle!Loving them both, it was almost more
than I could bear as I witnessed the essence of my child
truly loving another soul, just as they are.

My stepfather had spent his life striving for perfection in
all he attempted, to "earn" or deserve acceptance. Even  a
masters degree in divinity, chemistry, and physics, and a
doctorate in education did not lessen his drive to prove
himself worthy. Giving thousands of hours in public
service, as a spiritual, personal, community and
professional role model, he was not satisfied that he had
done enough. He always graded himself slightly short,
denying his Parkinson's diagnosis for as long as possible,
and embarrassed as he lost strength and balance.

The purpose and meaning of his experience had been a topic
of private discussions between us as I suggested his
illness was a way for him to be humbled enough to finally
love and accept himself. He knew intellectually that grace
is a gift and not a pre-paid plan, and I reminded him that
he was perfect as he was, with a wheelchair or hospital
bed. Now I was  saying goodbye to a man truly humbled, and
still loved beyond measure. Was that not Grace? Did he feel
it in his heart?

Moreover, his long illness had shown my daughter growing in
grace, patience, compassion and love. She had come to see
love as not only good times, like playing catch, helping
with homework, or coming to watch school plays and
basketball games. Loving now encompassed loving someone
even when pared down to the very essence of life,
vulnerable and fragile. Since her Dad's death, she
understood why love is to be treasured and never taken for
granted.

Now, it was time to head home. My stepfather had been
lightly awake at times, and hopefully he had heard us tell
him how much we loved him. I whispered in his ear a wish to
let me know when he "got where he was going",to let me know
if he and my husband were together again. (They had been
great buddies, sharing a sense of humor unique to their
relationship.)

As we neared the door, my daughter turned back for one last
try. I believe she needed something she did not get from
her Dad, to hear this goodbye. She had encouraged him all
afternoon to speak, but he had not spoken in a couple of
days. I ached for her disappointment, and questioned
whether I had exposed my child to too much.  Had I hurt her
in trying to help her?

Leaning over the railing very close, she said slowly one
more time, "I love you Dan-Dan." Now awake, I saw he was
looking right at her, focusing very intently. We heard a
very soft, but clear and precious   "...Love ...(pause) ..
You". They were the last words that kind, generous and wise
man ever spoke, a true gift to a devoted granddaughter who
needed that last goodbye so very much.

Almost two years have passed since my stepfather's death,
and tears are hitting my keyboard even now. There is no
doubt in my mind that I had the guidance of a higher power
helping me parent that day and perhaps heal a small part of
the ache for her Dad.

We are faced with so many decisions as parents, the sum
total of which help to shape who our children are and will
become. Yet, many singular decisions made day- to- day,
over and over, appear to be of no great consequence.  How
do we know which decisions are life-changing? If we
reflected too greatly on that, we would make no decisions
at all!

I often hear parents who are struggling with major life
decisions voice a desire to protect and shelter their
child, even staying in unhealthy relationships believing it
is best for their child. What are we teaching our children
in that classroom that is Life? Children are resilient, and
wiser and stronger than we imagine. Lessons they take away
from observing and living our choices will one day
influence the choices they make when it is all up to them.

Listen to your heart. We hear that so much because the
messages of the soul offer guidance, whether through
prayer, meditation, music or quiet reflection. By
appreciating and respecting a child's spiritual needs, we
are able to place them in a path of learning through
adversity, or to try to steer them out of the path.
Sometimes the best path for their emotional growth is right
beside you, learning from you, while you are still able to
hold their hand.

My daughter listens to her heart, even if it hurts. She
reaches out to help others, such as in comforting cousins as
their Mom was suddenly dying. She sat by her Aunt's
hospital bed to tell her goodbye when others were hesitant
to enter that hospital room, taking my Aunt's hand, and
saying goodbye. Her sensitivity and compassion have helped
a close friend who recently lost her brother in a car
accident, with an inner wisdom greater than her years.

Would I wish for a less traumatic childhood for her? Of
course, but I also trust in a Purpose for us all, and see
her growing into a young woman with compassion and a deep
capacity for understanding. I know in my heart that she
will continue to follow her unique life path in a way that
honors and expresses her many special gifts. Guided by her
promise to her "Dan-Dan", I know he is also making sure she
takes advantage of that opportunity.

And, if you are wondering, he did let us clearly know when
he "got there".

"No exercise is better for the heart than reaching down to
lift up another." Tim Russert

Downsizing into a City Condominium

Sat, 10/25/2008 - 01:23
Downsizing into a City Condominium

I know it is not easy. You are coming from an oversized 5
bedroom home in suburbia, and you are looking to moving
into a 1000-1500 sq. ft two bedroom condo Right?!  Join the
crowd. Somewhere out there in cyber space, I am sure there
is an online support group for such grappling predicaments,
and those caught in such a web of anguish and utter
confusion.

Fitting your furniture to the size of your new living
arrangements seems to cause most new condo buyers a great
deal of stress.  Deciding which pieces of furniture to hold
on to is often determined by the size, age, condition,
style, and guilt, or obligation associated with that
particular piece of furniture. Many American living rooms
are dotted with the odd Art Deco end table conveyed to you
by a distant aunt's last will and testament. Not every
piece can come with you. Some of those old relics you
currently call furniture will have to be sold, pawned off
onto offspring, given to charity, or simply come face to
face with the broad side of an axe. The first things to
generally go are items referred to as armoires, hutches,
side tables, buffets, and oversized coffee tables-
especially those the size of say a station wagon. As well
as the notion of multiple couches, strewn about your
current living quarters like a tornado through a corn field.

And most newly christened urban condo residents can kiss
their accumulated collections of old brooms, mops, snow
shovels, ironing boards, lawnmowers, hand tools, and trash
cans goodbye. And that dress that you bought, that you
really never liked, and just didn't feel comfortable
wearing? See ya.  Such commodities are excess baggage in
the move into a smaller space in town. You will be starting
fresh. A true adjustment, but such a move is a quick, sure
fire way to lose thousands of pounds of ugly fat. The
feeling of such divulgence is a much unanticipated, yet
joyous occasion.

Walking to and fro is probably the biggest change you will
encounter when moving into a new urban condominium. You
will buy and love your Granny grocery cart, which you will
wheel behind you.  It may become one of your favorite new
possessions. The idea of downsizing to one car (maximum) is
always a plus in life. Less cars means less parking issues,
less insurance and upkeep costs, and just one less thing in
life to worry about. And it does feel good to get out and
stretch your legs downtown. Giving up some things in life
means getting other things, and in this case, it may well
be exercise that you are getting.

Think about what you need to give up in order to move into
an urban condominium, and downsizing not only your living
arrangements, but your life as well.  Of course the move is
going to be painful, but can also be a fresh, welcome start
to the rest of your life.

On Authority

Sat, 10/25/2008 - 00:52
On Authority

It has come to my attention by talking to various parents
and teachers that there seems to be confusion as to the
meaning of authority.  As I am foreign and I wouldn't want
to be mistaken, I thought I would look up the word
"authority" in the dictionary.

Here's what I found:

1- The power to determine, adjudicate, or otherwise settle
issues or disputes; jurisdiction; the right to control,
command, or determine.
2- A power or right delegated or given; authorization: Who
has the authority to grant permission?
3- An accepted source of information, advice, etc.
4- An expert on a subject: He is an authority on baseball.
5- Persuasive force; conviction: She spoke with authority.
6- Right to respect or acceptance of one's word, command,
thought, etc.; commanding influence: the authority of a
parent; the authority of a great writer.
7- Mastery in execution or performance, as of a work of art
or literature or a piece of music.

These are actually only a sample, there are more...  No
wonder people are confused but the point here is that I
wouldn't say that any of these are particularly negative.
Nevertheless, I get the impression that people tend to see
"authority" as a rather negative notion, a sort of
dictatorial idea of the way things should be done.  I
really think that's a misconception.

Let me focus a little on #6.  We are talking about right
and acceptance, of thoughts and influences.  The authority
of a parent or a teacher is guidance, direction for kids.
But looking at other definitions too:  you, parents, are an
expert on the subject of life and growing up and being a
teenager, you are an accepted source of information, you
are the person who settles issues and disputes and you have
mastery of your role as a parent.  You ARE the authority
and it is a good thing.

You don't have to be a dictator.  But you have to make sure
that you are in charge and that your kids know it.  Why?
Because of all of the above, you simply know better.
Without using "because I said so" all the time, you can
calmly explain your decisions to your kids, at any age, so
that they understand why certain things have to be a
certain way.  By all means, ask for their feedback and
suggestions, but don't negotiate too much.  Keep things
clear and simple and you'll keep your authority.

Arkansas Property - A 2009 Best Buy

Thu, 10/23/2008 - 14:00
Arkansas Property - A 2009 Best Buy

Arkansas is a State situated in the southern part of the
United States with its eastern border defined by the
Mississippi River. The State has beautiful landscapes and
is a great place to acquire land. There are many realtors
that will help you find the right land that will meet your
needs. As always it is better to invest during a buyers
market as the prices are quite low during this time and you
receive full value of your investment. Always avoid a
sellers market as the prices are elevated at that point of
time. Study and analyze the market before you jump into
investment plans so as to get maximum benefits out of your
investment.

Possibly the best kept secret in America, Arkansas' lush
and diverse landscape offers all you need to make any dream
of rural living become a reality. The biggest city you'll
find in Arkansas is Little Rock, and it really lives up to
its name with just over 187,000 people. With the fertile
land and diverse climate, Arkansas has everything you want
from snow, to April rain showers, to the crisp colors of
Fall. If you're looking into retirement, starting a
business, or just want some extra land to explore, Arkansas
has that, and seven  major National Parks and Sites for you
to enjoy

Arkansas Property, fulfill your dreams of rural living Have
you ever dreamed of a quiet, peaceful life where everyone
knows your name and you have space to just breath? Have you
ever dreamed of owning a farm or just some land to have a
respectful distance from neighbors, noise and the
distraction of city life. Located right where the Midwest
plains and Southern hospitality collide, Arkansas can make
your dreams of rural living come true.

When you think of rural life, don't just think of wide open
grassy fields and livestock, no, Arkansas is home to many
natural attractions including the Buffalo Natural River
where you can see the Ozark mountains, forests and of
course the river. Arkansas' nickname is The Natural State,
and lives up to its meaning with lush beauty to be found at
every corner. Experience all four seasons in distinction:
with the warm summers, the beautiful colorful autumn and
spring, occasional snowfall in the winter.

Also of note is the Arkansas Post National Memorial, Fort
Smith National Historic Site, Hot Springs National Park and
Arkansas' own portion of the Trail of Tears. Right in the
middle of the Bible belt, 86% of Arkansans declare
themselves Christian. The other 14% simply list themselves
as non-religious.

The economy is strong and great for retirees or young
business people alike. Arkansas has 6 income tax brackets
ranging from 1% - 7%. Retirees are not required to pay
income tax. Sales tax is just 6% with an extra hefty
alcohol tax of 10% to help offset the sales tax.

At present time in Arkansas the real estate market is
entering a real buyers market due to the continuing drop in
real property prices. The price of land has decreased to
what many consider to be "Rock Bottom" hence it is the
right time for you to purchase a piece of Arkansas. There
are many real estate agents dealing with land sales and you
could contact any of them and make your deal. Whether the
property is purchased for investment or for recreational
use or for accommodation the best time to make the
acquisition is when the market is on the down side, which
is now! Always a penny saved is a penny earned. So, before
the sale closes, make sure to analyze the market situations
and then go for the investment in such a manner that you
get the land at a much lower or reasonable rate.

Investing in a sellers market is quite risky as the price
will break down after a steep rise. Hence you take the risk
of incurring a loss form the purchase. What ever land you
are looking for whether a land with a water frontage or
mountain view or a ranch find them in a buyers market
rather than in sellers market. Always the prices in a
sellers market will be elevate than the actual prices and
we may find the rates high.

You'll be equally satisfied with the number of historic
companies and people that emerge from Arkansas. President
Bill Clinton is from Arkansas along with the world wide
headquarters of Wal-Mart and Tyson Foods. Not into big
cities? You'll be happy to know that the biggest city in
Arkansas is Little Rock, and it lives up to its name with
just 187,452 people in population. Little Rock doubles as
the state's capital.

As far as the racial background is concerned (if you ever
see someone!), most of the population (81.1%) is white or
of European decent. African descendants account for 15.7%
and the remaining 3% are interracial. The truth is, if you
love culture, history, beauty and the landscape, you'll
love to call Arkansas home, and the people who live there
will be happy to welcome you in as their own family. Visit
today to see what Arkansas has in store for you!

Decorating Around the Basic Design of Platform Beds

Thu, 10/09/2008 - 18:06
Decorating Around the Basic Design of Platform Beds

If you are a highly creative individual who likes to show a
lot of personality in your home design, you have probably
thought that platform beds offer much too little intrigue
and creativity to fit your lifestyle.  On the contrary,
these are perhaps the best beds with which to begin a
decorating project because they provide a perfect, clean
backdrop to start the process.  While some contemporary
bedroom sets limit you to specific ideas critical to
maintaining the flow of the design, a group of items
centered around this blank slate is the perfect setup for
someone who wants their room to completely reflect his or
her personality.

With a platform bed, you usually have little or no design
or influence from the shape of the bed.  You'll typically
find the manufacturer has approached the idea as a
minimalist and left you with a canvas to paint - all hard,
straight, clean lines and sharp angles.  From this point
you can decide if you want to dress them up with leather
headboards and create a very masculine or wild-west themed
bedroom or if you'd rather soften the look with lots of
cushions, deep blankets, and throw pillows.  Either way,
it's your decision and your design to build, starting from
the basic platform.

Many other wood bedroom sets are ornately carved, given a
distressed look, stained a particular shade, or otherwise
"predecorated".  However, you can often find platform beds
that are "naked", meaning that the wood hasn't been stained
or painted, and the build of the bed is really no more than
a plain frame.  Therefore, you get to go back to the
drawing board again, deciding for yourself how you want to
treat the wood and what sort of creation you'll build from
the basic.  Best of all, because it's easy to design around
the bed in any way you like and the build is sturdy and
reliable, lasting for years, you can add versatility to the
list of bonuses.  You can redecorate at any time without
having to change your furniture.

One of the great things about using platform beds in the
bedroom is that, unlike other king wood beds, the sheer
size of the platform never seems overwhelming.  Most of
these sit fairly low to the ground, and because of their
minimalism, they are extremely unobtrusive, even in the
smallest of bedrooms.  By comparison to other master
bedroom furniture, even of the same size, you'll feel more
comfortable and less cramped with a bed that is less ornate
and imposing, especially if you are upsizing from a queen.

While creative design is not the priority on everyone's
list, there are plenty of people who feel trapped by the
style of their bedroom furniture and unable to work around
it to really show who they are inside.  Contemporary
platform beds are a completely different animal and inspire
rather than subdue creative thinking.  Next time you look
around your bedroom and wonder where YOU are in the design,
think about starting fresh with a platform bed as your
blank canvas.

Domestic Violence and Child Custody - From the Frying Pan to the Fire of Family Violence

Mon, 09/29/2008 - 16:31
Domestic Violence and Child Custody - From the Frying Pan to the Fire
of Family Violence

Can we bring justice to family courts? That's a highly
political question, and I think the answer has more to do
with the nature of the human beings behind the system and
the misconceptions of those using the system to seek safety.

We hear of battered women falling through the cracks of the
system as much as those securing safety through the system.
It is clear that those who fall through the cracks
typically are in proceedings with a batter fortified with
aggressive counsel, or being victimized by counsel, and in
some cases both.

Thus, as long as divorce law is about one party
annihilating another, mindless of the interest of children
and family as a whole, then economically disadvantaged
survivors of domestic abuse are subject to system failures.

Is Family Court the Proper Place to Seek Remedy for
Domestic Violence?

It is also true that part of the dilemma is that divorce
court is actually not the proper jurisdiction to secure
remedy for domestic abuse. In divorce court in which there
is a "no fault" presumption, responsibility for the marital
dissolution is spread across the marriage.

The implication of this is that the perpetrator is given an
umbrella to hide under and a way to deflect assuming
responsibility for the battering behavior. Further and more
equally serious, the victim is expected to shoulder aspects
of the battering relationship that technically do not
belong to her/him. And even worse is the ongoing legal
permission to re-victimize the victim through legal
judicial and psychiatric ploys.

How Can Legal Domestic Abuse Be Legal?

You know that abuse is about control. Well, so is
litigation. Two parties in a legal action are essentially
fighting for control, and the perpetrator thrives in this
arena.

Now when there's a gross disparity of income between the
parties and when the perpetrator controls the family purse
strings, which is often the case in these
relationships/situations, then the litigation can really be
controlled because he who pays will most likely drive the
litigation.

This party can taunt, torment and terrorize his/her
opposition with legal stalking, financial starve out
tactics and with the threat of custody litigation. Abusers
know nothing will devastate their victims as much as seeing
their children endangered. So they use the threat of
obtaining custody to extract agreements to their liking.
And this can go on indefinitely.

So instead of looking to change the family court system, or
expect the family court to serve you differently, see it
for what it is and seek to employ other strategies in
conjunction with family court to arrest the domestic abuse
and secure safety for yourself and your children.

Lingerie is for Ladies

Fri, 09/26/2008 - 13:11
Lingerie is for Ladies

Lingerie is a term for fashionable and alluring women's
undergarments. It derives from the French word linge,
"washables" as in faire le linge, "do the laundry"
and ultimately from lin for washable linen, the
fabric from which European undergarments were made before
the general introduction of cotton from Egypt and then from
India.

While the term in the French language applies to all
undergarments for either gender, in English it is applied
specifically to those women's undergarments designed to be
visually appealing or erotic, typically incorporating
materials such as Lycra, nylon (nylon tricot), polyester,
satin, lace and/or silk and not applied to functional
cotton undergarments. It is commonly pronounced in English
with a faux French pronunciation (such as LONJ-er-ee in
British pronunciation or lonj-er-AY in American
pronunciation).

The concept of lingerie being visually appealing was a
development of the later nineteenth century. Up through the
first half of the 20th century women selected underwear for
three major purposes: to alter their shape (first with
corsets and later with girdles or bras), for reasons of
hygiene, or for modesty. Women's underwear before the
invention of the crinoline was often very large and bulky.
As the 20th century progressed underwear became smaller and
more form fitting. In the 1960s 'controversial' lingerie
manufacturers such as Frederick's of Hollywood begin to
glamorize lingerie and the idea of lingerie having a sexual
appeal slowly developed. The lingerie industry has expanded
in the 21st century with designs that double as outerwear.
The French refer to this as 'dessous-dessus' which
basically means innerwear as outerwear. The boutique Faire
Frou Frou, which is an antiquated phrase meaning "show it
off", heralds this philosophy by categorizing lingerie as
an accessory with details such as straps and lace trim that
should be layered and shown as part of one's outerwear.

Since the mid-1990s women have had more choice in bra
sizes; the focus has changed from choosing bras in an
average size to wearing bras that actually fit perfectly.
In the UK, for instance, the media is fueling an awareness
campaign about the need for each woman to have a proper bra
fitting before every purchase.

Other companies have provided made to measure alternatives.
The world famous French House of Cadolle, now owned by the
fifth generation Cadolle, Poupie Cadolle, makes bras,
corsets and other lingerie on a made to measure basis (also
known as Demi-mesure for clothes adapted to fit the
customers' measurements). The made to measure method is
also used by British firm Kate Gibson Lingerie, founded by
Kate Mellor and Katy Gibson. Kate Gibson Lingerie, taking
the opposite track from Bravissimo, only produces petite
lingerie for women who wear AA to 34B cup bras, thereby
provided choice for smaller women. Both Cadolle and Kate
Gibson Lingerie use couture fabrics and laces to created
designer lingerie and petite designer lingerie.

Within the UK the choice of lingerie available is vast. In
London Rigby and Peller are famous for their fitting
service, and produce their own branded lingerie that sits
alongside other brands such as Lejaby, Prima Donna and
other premium brands.

Bravissimo specialises in larger cup size bras, and has a
huge choice of Fantasie and Freya. For more provocative
sexy luxury lingerie Agent Provocateur is available in
major UK cities and online. A newer brand Boudiche emerged
in the last few years with boutiques in Scotland offering
designer brands sourced from around the world, including
from America Kiki De Montparnasse, Undrest, and more
unusual brands such as I.D. Sarrieri from Romania.

Drapers magazine, runs it's annual Drapers Awards and
includes a category for 'Best Lingerie Retailer' in the UK.
In 2007 this was won by Scottish Lingerie Retailer,
Boudiche, in 2006 by Marks and Spencer, and previously
Figleaves held the title for 2 years running.

Companies such as The Natori Company, founded in 1977 by
Josie Natori have helped expand lingerie beyond bras and
underwear into the areas of sleepwear and loungewear,
creating clothes that can be "worn either to bed or out on
the town." The lingerie market at the turn of 21st century
was driven by the advent of modern technologies and fabrics
that help in designing innovative products such as
laser-cut seamless bras and moulded T-shirt bras. Designers
are putting greater emphasis on rich-looking fabrics,
laces, embroideries and brighter, more daring colors.

The global lingerie market in 2003 was estimated at $29
billion Bras accounted for 56 per cent while briefs
represented 29 per cent of the lingerie market in 2005. The
world's largest lingerie manufacturer, Victoria's Secret,
operates almost exclusively in North America. The European
market is quite fragmented, with Triumph International and
DB Apparel leading the market.

----------------------------------------------------
In the early days lingerie was made from a washable linen
before the introduction of cotton from Egypt and India.
Later on there was the invention of lycra and nylon which
was used in the manufacture of lingerie.

Have You Heard That Cry? Help, Save My Marriage!

Mon, 09/22/2008 - 19:18
Have You Heard That Cry? Help, Save My Marriage!

More and more people are ending up talking with divorce
lawyers these days instead of seeking help to "save my
marriage", but does it really have to be that way?

It's estimated that 52% of marriages fail for one reason or
another. It could be for bad reasons like abuse, both
mental or physical, infidelity or any number of other
things but what is the underlying cause of divorce and what
can a person do to get the help to "save my marriage"?

The reasons that a lot of couples split and seek a divorce
can be summed up in a few simple words.

Selfishness, when one or both of the parties involved in a
relationship thinks more about themselves than the other
person. This is a really one sided attitude that will keep
a relationship from being strong and loving.

If you are seeing things in your marriage going downhill,
you need to ask yourself, and answer honestly, am I being
selfish and only wanting whats best for me or am I doing
everything I can to give my spouse the attention and love
that he or she deserves without thinking about what I want?

Infidelity is the primary cause of bteakup's in a marriage
and should be avoided at all costs if you truly want to
save your marriage. Infidelity goes right along with
selfishness  where you or your spouse starts seeing another
person because they get treated much better and the spark
that you felt seemingly is rekindled.

This isn't love, it's more like infatuation and should be
avoided as it just creates more problems for those that are
serious about saving their marriage. There are two kinds of
pain that we are exposed to in our lives, physical pain and
emotional pain.

Physical pain from an accident hurts and can sometimes be
excruciating but emotional pain or heartache is the type of
pain that can cause you to feel hurt more than any physical
pain could ever do. Although emotional pain is not
physical, it can cause physical pain and it seems to be
more painful than anything that you have ever experienced
in your life.

It causes you to be unaware of your everyday life by taking
your mind off of the things you do on a daily basis like
eating regular meals, paying your bills, enjoying your time
off and spending quality time with your friends and family.
Drinking, or drowning your sorrows, is another problem with
emotional pain and should be avoided at all costs.

Money problems can be another cause of breaking up a
couples marriage. Financial problems lead to arguments over
almost everything like not being able to pay the rent on
time, not having enough food for the month or not being
able to go out and enjoy life like you thought you'd be
able to. Couples that really want to save their marriage
should adopt a policy of "wants and needs" and work
together to overcome their budget battles.

So if you are thinking in the right direction of "I want to
save my marriage", there are a couple of things that you
can do to help start down the road to having a great
marriage, even if you think it's broken beyond repair.
First, seek professional help. This doesn't mean talking to
your family or friends and laying out your troubles to
them. Go to a professional counselor that can get you back
on the road to a loving relationship.

Second, If you are already separated, don't push the other
person to get back together, that will just push them
further away. Take things slowly, a little at a time and
talk rationally. If things start to get heated, just back
off and try to talk at another time. Treat the other person
with care and respect even though you may be feeling
slighted and hurt.

The key is to always give more than you take from your
relationship. If both parties can do that then neither one
of you will be yelling those dreadful words, "Help, Save My
Marriage"!

----------------------------------------------------
You know that you want to save your marriage, you've put
too much into it to simply let it go and there is help for
you available 24 hours a day 7 days a week online at

Simple Laundry Detergent Alternative

Sun, 09/21/2008 - 23:22
Simple Laundry Detergent Alternative

The top quality magnetic laundry system has undergone
independent laboratory testing to determine its durability
and functionality.  With two government patents, this
system is one that could really revolutionize how you do
your laundry and care for your family.

The days of using harsh toxins and petro based chemicals to
clean your soiled clothes can really be over after using
this new system.

There are no fancy gadgets or gizmos with which you need to
spend hours installing.  After purchasing the system, you
simply place the units into your washing machine, add dirty
clothes, and begin washing.  The simplicity of it is really
unbelievable.  And the clothes really do come clean,
despite the lack of chemicals being used in the washing
process.

No matter what kind of dirt your clothes have accumulated
throughout the day, the magnetic laundry system can get
them as clean and fresh as ever. From those who work on
dirty machinery to farmers to children, the innovative use
magnetism and water in this new system cleans soiled
clothes without the hassle or expense of purchasing
traditional laundry detergent.

In fact, the magnetic properties that formulate the power
behind this product were discovered in the early 1900's.
There is no secret behind this product, but it is the
application of the magnetism with water into the washing
machine that makes this so unique in so many ways.

It is a common misnomer that soap or detergent cleans
clothes, when it is actually just water.  And when the
powerful magnetic force is applied with water, the results
are as amazing as ever.   It is hard to believe once you
have been taught your entire life that detergents, the
harsher the better, are needed to keep you clothes neat,
clean, fresh and free of stains.  Once you have purchased
the magnetic laundry system, there will be no secret to how
much you love the product and how well it actually works on
even the toughest grime.

Water in nature's cleanser; its powerful properties can
corrode a landmass like the Grand Canyon.  When a catalyst
works alongside water, like in saponification, it can be
used to clean things very effectively.  This is the same
principle behind the magnetic laundry system in which this
powerful process casts aside detergents and replaces it
with good, old-fashioned nature!  Magnetic saponification
created an effect in water so that the molecules cling to
the dirt on your clothes and carries them off.  There is no
need to look any further for the next great cleaning
product. It has existed right in nature all along.

----------------------------------------------------
Do your bit for the environment! At
http://www.magneticlaundrysecrets.com you can discover how
easy it is to use a non-chemical laundry detergent
alternative.

Men's Dress Shirt Features

Thu, 09/18/2008 - 00:17
Men's Dress Shirt Features

A tailored dress shirt is an important feature of formal
wear.  But what are the features of a man's dress shirt?
What differentiates a dress shirt from any other shirt?  A
men's dress shirt has 6 basic features, each of which will
be discussed individually in this article.

Buttons

Buttons are perhaps the most distinctive feature which
makes a dress shirt a dress shirt.  In order to be a dress
shirt, it must open in the middle and have buttons running
from the collar down to the waist.  Every tailored dress
shirt has at least seven buttons on the front, regardless
of size.  Some high end shirts will have eight buttons, but
seven is the norm.  Oftentimes shirts will also have
buttons on the collar and cuffs, although this is not a
requirement.

Collars

Another key feature of the men's dress shirt is the collar.
Having a collar is a must, however collar styles do vary.
Some examples of collar types are: the Windsor, which has a
wide spread at the edges and is named after the Duke of
Windsor, a Straight Collar which has a very narrow spread
between the edges of the collar, or the Tony, a highly
formal collar which covers the entire neck as well as the
knot of the tie.  Some collars are also buttoned to the
shirt; these are called "Button-down" collars.

Cuffs

Next in line of tailored dress shirt features are the
cuffs.  These are the sections of the shirt which cover the
wrists.  There are two main styles of cuff: the barrel
cuff, in which the sides of the cuff overlap and button one
on top of the other, and the French cuff in which the edges
of the cuff are pulled out to the side and linked together
there.

Placket

The placket is a feature related to the buttons of the
tailored dress shirt.  It is the strip which runs down the
front of a man's dress shirt where the button holes are
sewn.  The standard width of a placket is 1.5 inches.   It
is generally sewn fairly finely so as to be as unnoticeable
as possible, although some different variations of plackets
do exist.

Pleats

Pleats are not a universal feature of a tailored dress
shirt, however most dress shirts do have them.  A pleat is
a part of the shirt where the fabric is folded back over
itself.  Generally pleats are found on the either side of
the back of the shirt.  For less formal wear, there is a
single box pleat in the middle of the back.  Pleats are
also often found on the sleeves just above the cuff.
Pockets

Pockets are another feature of the tailored dress shirt
which is not universal.  In some places formal shirts do
not include pockets at all; however a single pocket on the
left side of the shirt is common in many places such as the
United States.  Occasionally these pockets can be buttoned
shut; even more rarely they come with a cover flap.

Bathroom Wall Tile - Splash and Pizzazz

Sun, 09/07/2008 - 20:53
Bathroom Wall Tile - Splash and Pizzazz

The bathroom was once called the wash closet. It became a
standard room in homes during the end of the 19th century.
They were built strictly for function and had an antiseptic
quality. For the most part they used white surfaces because
it was considered sterile. Around 1930 the Deco Style Era
introduced a new style in interior decor. It was known for
its shapes, patterns as well as vivid colors. Ceramic and
glass tiles started appearing in bathrooms of newly built
homes. The glazes that were used back then had a thinner
consistency than the glazes of today. This created a flat
surface unlike the tile in our modern bathrooms that have a
slight bevel.

For today's life style the bathroom is a place for
relaxation and pleasure. We are spending longer amounts of
time in this room to pamper ourselves. Every day we clean
our bodies which helps to ignite our energy and enlighten
our spirits for the day ahead.

The bathroom has become our personal sanctuary and should
be treated with special touches. With the many options that
exist you can add elements of comfort, softness, radiance
and sophistication.

For most home owners the bathroom is a fun place to start a
decorating project. The bathroom is usually the smallest
room of the house and the easiest to make over for the
novice. Even if you have zero tile experience this project
can be accomplished over a weekend. If you do not have the
do-it-yourself attitude there are many contractors just
waiting for you to call.

Bathroom wall tiles come in various materials, sizes,
shapes, colors, patterns and price ranges. Some materials
that are available are ceramic, porcelain, marble, metal
and limestone. The most common material is ceramic. It is
water resistant, easy to clean, extremely durable and
economical. All wall tiles help protect your walls and
fixtures.

There are endless options when it comes to decorative tile.
A few common choices to consider are the raised rope or sea
shell design. There are also hand painted porcelain tiles
and multi colored glass tiles that are available. Marble is
an excellent choice for borders. There is also a technique
that was developed in Europe. You can have digital images
reproduced on tile.

Here are a few designs considered to be trendy: Traditional
tiles with splashes of colors and patterns, natural stone
with marble accents and the harlequin pattern which uses
diamond shapes rather then square shaped tiles.

It may be wise for resale value to keep the wall tile
confined to a small space. A couple of examples would be
framing a small section in front of a vanity or just
installing the tile in your shower stall. What ever you
choose try to make it the focal point of the room.

Within the last 10 years we have learned that using large
body tiles and less grout make the room easier to maintain
and helps make the room look larger and less busy. There
are so many options full of decorative potential. There are
an abundance of finishes such as shiny, matte, rustic and
earth tones. All of these help create either a casual or
elegant atmosphere.

The key to achieving your desired look is to plan
everything in advance on paper. Let your imagination run
wild. Many companies offer bathroom design software. This
will give you an idea of how the wall will look before you
purchase your tile. Otherwise ask for samples to take home.
This way you can make certain it will match your decor.

So start planning your project and soon you will have a
room that is appealing to you and your guests.

Necktie Quilts: a Trendy Way to Commemorate Memories

Mon, 09/01/2008 - 07:46
Necktie Quilts: a Trendy Way to Commemorate Memories

There are two kinds of necktie quilts: one in which fabric
is cut to resemble ties and sewn into the quilt block or
one in which actual men's neckties are used in the quilt
design. Using men's neckties in quilts is an extremely
popular trend.

In addition to being a current trend, the necktie quilts
have enjoyed popularity over many decades due to the fact
that they can be great memory quilts honoring the men in
your life.

If you want to make a necktie quilt using men's ties, you
have several options. First, you need to decide if you will
use the tie as is, incorporating the entire tie into your
quilt design. Your other option is to use the ties as scrap
fabrics, cutting pieces from each to complete a traditional
quilt pattern.

Quilters who like to use neckties in traditional patterns
often choose to use them as fabrics in Dresden Plate,
Double Wedding Ring, and block patchwork among others.

If you opt to use the entire necktie in your quilt, you
might start off by arranging them to form a starburst in
the center of the quilt. Fill in with other fabrics, or
more neckties if you have them.

You could also choose to use the neckties in your quilt's
border.

In addition to full size quilts, you could use the neckties
to make wall hangings, Christmas tree skirts and stockings,
or pillows.

If you have the urge to make a necktie quilt, but don't
have enough ties on hand, ask friends and family to save
them for your project. Also, visit thrift stores and yard
sales to grow your own collection of men's neckties.

If you have plenty of ties on hand, but are having a tough
time finding a starting place, visit your favorite free
quilt pattern site to see what it offers. There are many
free or low cost quilt patterns available on the Internet.
You have a world of options at your fingertips if you are
planning to use the old neckties in piecing your quilts.

If your necktie quilt will serve as a memory quilt for a
loved one, try to incorporate other mementos into it. For
instance, if your father loved baseball, try working a
baseball tie or baseball themed fabric into your design of
the quilt you are making for him or in honor of him.

Quilters who are low on neckties or time can create a
wonderful memory lap quilt. Since it is smaller in size, it
won't take much time to complete. Even though smaller in
size, the necktie lap quilt can still recollect as many
memories as a full size one!

If you decide to make a quilt that features fabric cut to
resemble men's neckties, you still have a couple of
options. You may make the traditional neck tie or you may
choose a bow tie pattern. Both are popular and widely
available on the internet.

Quilters who prefer appliqu  over piecing can also
use that technique in making necktie quilts. If using the
entire necktie, it may be appliqu d onto the quilt
top wherever the quilter chooses. Using tie shaped pieces
of fabric, the quilter may choose to appliqu  those
to a quilt top. The bowtie quilt may also be
appliqu d, but part of its novelty is how the blocks
actually piece together to create a bowtie.

Once your necktie quilt project is complete, you can use
any remaining neckties you have left over for other
projects. Popular ways to recycle neckties include wearing
them as belts or headbands or making skirts from them. You
can find various instructions and patterns for those
projects on the Internet as well.

Home Improvement Tips for Childproofing Your Home

Home Improvement Tips for Childproofing Your Home

Having a family can be a joy. Couples who are starting a
family are generally excited about having young ones, and
they focus right away on what baby clothes and baby toys to
get them. Sometimes, with all the fuss on the cute little
baby things, the more important stuff takes the backseat -
stuff like making their home a childproof one for the
safety and protection of their young ones. If you're on the
way to or already have kids, you don't have to look far to
get great home improvement tips on this matter. This
article provides some smart and easy home improvement tips
for childproofing your home.

Childproofing your home virtually means adapting a variety
of systems that, together, create an environment that is
child-friendly, as well as safe for everyone who resides in
your home. When your young ones are still enjoying their
early childhood or are toddlers, your main duty is to be
vigilant in keeping them from touching, grabbing, and
tasting and chewing dangerous items and elements around the
house. You also have to be careful as kids in this stage
are prone to climb, jump, or topple over without a care in
the world, leading to accidents. The home improvement tips
you should employ must be focused on these potential
problems.

For one, you should install toddler gates at doorways, most
especially at the top and bottom of stairways. Keep the
front door closed at all times whenever you and your young
ones are inside the house; toddlers are known to be quick -
they could be right outside into the street with one blink
of an eye. You should also enclose open deck railings with
properly welded wire mesh. You can cut it with tin snips,
nail or staple it in place, and file off sharp ends
afterwards. If you have interior railings, acrylic sheets
would do the trick. These home improvement tips can help
keep your little ones safe while they walk around the house.

Entrances and exits aren't the only things that should be
locked properly. Toddlers are likely to touch outlets. In
order to keep them away from harm, specifically accidental
shock, replace reachable outlet covers with protective
covers. You can put plastic outlet plugs to cover unused
outlets. All around the house, sharp furniture, as well as
edges, should be padded with foam tape.

Your outdoors should just be as protected as your indoors.
If you have a swimming pool and other potential danger
zones for small children, it would be best to halve these
areas fenced. Outdoor play equipment should also be
checked. If there are protruding bolts, the same should be
cut off. Hard swing seats should be replaced with sturdy
yet soft material, and slide steps should be placed with
non-slip coating. These simple home improvement tips for
childproofing the play area, along with your vigilance and
constant supervision, are sure to keep your precious ones
out of harm's way.

Water Damage Repair Requires Quick Cleanup

Sun, 08/24/2008 - 18:51
Water Damage Repair Requires Quick Cleanup

If you're faced with a soggy, water damaged home or
vehicle, time is of the essence. You don't have the leisure
of "getting around to it on the weekend." The window of
time for drying out the home or car and cleaning up the
mess left behind is narrow. In fact, mold and rust will
begin to appear within 72 hours - sometimes even less. No
matter what's been water damaged, the clock is ticking.

The only time when you should wait before starting the
drying and cleaning process is when it is unsafe and/or the
flood event is still occurring. For example, if the home
has been condemned, has a city message saying "do not
enter," is still under emergency evacuation orders, has the
power turned on, or torrential rains are still pounding,
you'll have no other choice but to wait until conditions
have changed.

When it is safe and you have the clearance to enter your
home, let the cleanup begin. Yes, your home will be a mess!
You may still have standing water, in which case, you must
get it out ASAP. Once the water has been drained, you'll
have a thick layer of muck on all exposed surfaces. This
muck isn't simply mud: it's its own unique blend of swept
up dirt, debris, fertilizer, weeds, twigs, rocks, trash,
and even raw sewage from overwhelmed sewage systems!  In
addition, to the muck, you'll have saturated furnishings,
carpets, carpet pads, floorboards, walls, wallpaper,
insulation, cabinets, and drapes. Many of these saturated
items will need to be thrown out and replaced while others
can safely be cleaned and decontaminated.

Clearly, returning to a water damaged home is overwhelming
and you may wonder where to begin. First and foremost, you
have to get the water out. Open the doors and windows and
start the mop up. If your home is flooded due to a burst
pipe or other plumbing problem, you'll need to stop the
flow first by turning off the home's water supply.

Because time is crucial, you must work quickly to minimize
further damage such as a mold infestation. If your entire
neighborhood or community is suffering a similar fate, your
friends and neighbors will be busy mopping up their own
homes. On the other hand, if your home is the only one
affected, you may be able to recruit a team of helpers to
help you drag out the waterlogged items, dry out the home,
and clean up the mess.

No doubt, this is a huge undertaking made even more
difficult thanks to the ticking clock. You don't have to do
it on your own. In fact, you probably shouldn't. Instead,
hire a professional. Professional water damage restoration
companies have heavy duty water extraction and drying
equipment as well as professional grade disinfectants, mold
inhibitors, and other tools at their disposal to dry out
and cleanup your home in the fastest manner possible. In
addition, they understand the urgency and are ready to
respond ASAP!

Organize Your Children for Current and Future Success

Sun, 08/24/2008 - 00:57
Organize Your Children for Current and Future Success

As a parent, teaching children the skill of organization is
not just one less cleaning job on the household chore
checklist. Some experts consider teaching children
organizational skills as fundamental as instructing them
about morals, values and other personal signposts. In fact,
organization skills taught during childhood are likely to
follow the child through adolescence and onto adulthood.
And when children reach adult age, these essential skills
can translate into real-world talents and successes.

So is it possible for parents to teach children to become
organized? Take it from a Professional Organizer - most
definitely! I regularly experience the benefits of teaching
my children organizational skills - my nine-year-old now
asks to put away and organize our family's groceries by
herself, and she does a great job doing so.

While many children will not initially find the activity of
organizing their personal items desirable, they will
welcome the consistent routine that organizing offers.
Because children generally respond well to consistency and
structure, and parents love an organized home, the
arrangement would seem like a no-brainer - teach your
children organizational skills and parents enjoy a
less-cluttered household in the process.

However, many parents make the mistake of simply saying
"clean your room" which essentially leaves organizational
methods up to their children and allows them the
opportunity to make creative organizational choices.
Without the necessary instruction, a child can just throw
their toys anywhere they please as long as the clutter is
out of sight. Creativity is fine, but what will happen when
the child arrives in the real world as an adult? Will his
kooky childhood methods serve him well amongst his peers?

As a child's first teacher and the guardian of their
future, it is up to the parent to take every opportunity to
prepare their children for their adult lives. It is well
worth the effort for parents to communicate basic rules of
organization that will build a child's skills. Rules
provide structure in children's lives and structure lays
the foundation for the types of people children will grow
up to be.

So why waste an opportunity to guide the development of
your child? In essence, if you teach a child how to be
well-organized, he will grow to be a well-organized adult.

Consider using the household chores and organizing routine
as a means to teach your children how to become capable
adults. They likely will not recognize the investment now,
but as an adult they will witness others their own age have
trouble with tasks they mastered while children, and will
no doubt be grateful for the skills they seemed to
effortlessly learn while in your care.

Are Daybeds Good for a Child's Bed?

Thu, 08/14/2008 - 19:57
Are Daybeds Good for a Child's Bed?

When you were growing up, daybeds were probably in style,
and it was every little girl's dream to have one in her
bedroom, whereas boys wanted bunks. Today, though, it seems
like kids are more into contemporary styles and new wave
furniture, making you wonder if a day bed is still the
right choice for your daughter's room. Not only is it still
a viable and excellent option for your daughter - it's now
acceptable and a great piece of furniture to include in
your son's room as well.

Kids' beds can be a problem in many ways. First of all,
your child grows and matures so rapidly that it is
difficult to keep up with his or her taste when it comes to
furniture, especially if you are on a budget. You can't
just replace the furnishings every year when your children
think they've outgrown what they have or it's too
"babyish". You need a staple piece that can grow and mature
with the child, around which you can change other aspects
of the design and d cor to make the room seem more
grown up.

A contemporary daybed is a great option for this because,
in a modern style, you'll find only the basic designs with
no intricate decorum that reflects the necessity of any
particular style. You can use the straight, sleek lines and
the sharp angles to serve as a canvas upon which you can
paint over and over again, reshaping the theme around it to
match your child's taste and maturity level as they change
over the years. And because they are not frilly, they can
work as well in a boy's room as in a girl's.

Perhaps you have children sharing a room or you have a very
small space in which to work. These are also great beds for
such a dilemma. In the past, children bunk beds have been
the default solution for sharing a room, with loft beds
available for a single child needing extra space, since a
dresser or desk could be positioned under the loft.
However, daybeds offer another solution to these problems,
with the added benefit of providing seating in the room for
daytime activities.

A trundle day bed allows for the storage of the second bed
beneath the sofa part of the bed during the day, when more
space is needed for play and movement, and the children can
use the bed as a sofa during this time. At night, the
trundle rolls out and provides a perfect sleeping place for
the child who needs to share the room. Even without a
trundle, you can certainly appreciate the benefit of added
seating in the room, and you can even find daybeds with
storage beneath to further create space. What was once just
the fantasy of many young girls 30 years ago has become a
standard piece of furniture for kid's rooms, as well as
guest rooms and even some living spaces. The day bed is
definitely a great choice for a child's bed and should
always be taken into consideration when it's time to do the
furniture shopping!
